Vernon E. Inge, Sr.
Nags Head- Vernon E. Inge, Sr., known as Bill, was born
in Newport News, Va on November 22, 1938 and passed away on
March 17, 2017 after prolonged illness and then cancer. Mr. Inge grew up
in Oregon Hill in Richmond, attended Randolph-Macon College
and received his law degree from the University
of Richmond. Mr.
Inge practiced law in Richmond
for many years until he realized the dream of many lawyers and bought a fishing
pier in the Outer Banks. He worked in the fishing and real estate
industries in the Outer Banks until his disability due to illness.
Mr. Inge is survived by his sons Vernon E. Inge, Jr of Ashland, VA, who followed
his father into law, and William R. Inge Montpelier, VA. He is also survived by
five grandchildren, Vernon E. Inge, III (“Trey”), Bailey Inge, Avery Drew Inge,
Cal Inge and Sydney Inge, and his brother M. Thomas (“Tom”) Inge. He
was predeceased by his brother Edward Inge
Inge was an intelligent and hard working attorney and a strong advocate for
justice, but he did not suffer from an unhealthy work-life balance. He
enjoyed time with family and friends and his time on or around the water. He
was also a lover of animals, particularly dogs. During his illness, he
was often seen with his “partner in crime,” Sunshine, who predeceased him.
