Southern Shores-  John D. Hardie of Southern Shores passed away in Nags Head January 23, 2016.  John or Jake as most friends and family knew him, was 86.  Jake was born in Shaker Heights, Ohio.  He was the son of the late Wallace G and Frances J. Following his retirement, John and Sally fulfilled their dream and moved to the Outer Banks where they enjoyed the beach life together.  Jake also took great pleasure in his Friday Lunch Club meetings and volunteering as a gardener with the Elizabethan Gardens.  Sally and Jake were also members of the Southern Shores Boat Club and Duck Woods Country Club.
